Diagnostic boundary
A diagnostic trouble code reports that a monitored test failed. It does not prove one specific part is bad, and manufacturer logic can add vehicle-specific conditions.
Do not assume the sensor named in the description is the failed part; the code can be caused by mechanical timing or actuator-control errors.
Useful checks before replacing parts
- Review cam/crank correlation data for the affected bank and compare it with bank 1 sensor A if available.
- Inspect timing components, phaser control, oil-control solenoids, sensor mounting, and reluctor integrity.
- Check whether the code appeared after timing-chain, belt, head, or camshaft service.
