Diagnostic boundary
A diagnostic trouble code reports that a monitored test failed. It does not prove one specific part is bad, and manufacturer logic can add vehicle-specific conditions.
Do not replace the downstream sensor until the heater circuit has been tested; a wiring or fuse issue can set the same code.
Useful checks before replacing parts
- Inspect heater fuse, power feed, control circuit, ground path, connector terminals, and exhaust-heat damage.
- Check whether other oxygen-sensor heater codes share the same supply circuit.
- Confirm sensor replacement only after circuit integrity and service-information tests support it.
