Diagnostic boundary
A diagnostic trouble code reports that a monitored test failed. It does not prove one specific part is bad, and manufacturer logic can add vehicle-specific conditions.
Do not replace parts from the code label alone. A DTC identifies the circuit, monitor, or system that failed a test; diagnosis still needs live data, freeze-frame data, wiring checks, and vehicle-specific service information.
Useful checks before replacing parts
- Check injector power, ground control, connector condition, and harness routing before replacing an injector.
- Use resistance, current, balance, or contribution testing when the vehicle supports it.
- Separate an electrical injector fault from a fuel-pressure, contamination, or mechanical cylinder issue.
