Useful checks before replacing parts
- Check the air pump, relay, fuse, vacuum or electric switching valves, check valves, hoses, and air passages.
- Review oxygen-sensor response during commanded secondary-air operation if the scan tool supports it.
- Inspect for water intrusion in the pump and for blocked passages on engines known to accumulate carbon.
