Diagnostic boundary
A diagnostic trouble code reports that a monitored test failed. It does not prove one specific part is bad, and manufacturer logic can add vehicle-specific conditions.
Do not replace the charcoal canister or vent valve without checking the electrical circuit and vent path restriction.
Useful checks before replacing parts
- Check vent-valve power, ground, command, filter blockage, connector condition, and harness routing near the rear of the vehicle.
- Inspect for dust, corrosion, water intrusion, or damaged vent plumbing that can block the valve mechanically.
- Review other EVAP codes to determine whether the problem is electrical, flow-related, or leak-related.
