Diagnostic boundary
A diagnostic trouble code reports that a monitored test failed. It does not prove one specific part is bad, and manufacturer logic can add vehicle-specific conditions.
Do not replace the transmission because of a no-signal speed code; start with sensor, wiring, connector, and reluctor checks.
Useful checks before replacing parts
- Check sensor power or reference, ground, signal circuit, connector condition, internal harness, and sensor mounting.
- Compare engine RPM, turbine speed, output speed, and commanded gear while the vehicle is safely operated or tested.
- Inspect for metal debris, damaged reluctor, fluid intrusion, or recent transmission service that affected the sensor.
