Diagnostic boundary
A diagnostic trouble code reports that a monitored test failed. It does not prove one specific part is bad, and manufacturer logic can add vehicle-specific conditions.
Do not replace transmission solenoids for a manual shift switch circuit code; the fault is in the request input path.
Useful checks before replacing parts
- Compare upshift and downshift switch data with actual shifter or paddle movement using scan-tool data.
- Inspect switch wiring, connector condition, shifter assembly, clockspring or paddle wiring, and water intrusion.
- Check whether the fault disables manual mode, causes missed shift requests, or appears only in one direction.
