Diagnostic boundary
A diagnostic trouble code reports that a monitored test failed. It does not prove one specific part is bad, and manufacturer logic can add vehicle-specific conditions.
Do not replace the sensor before checking exhaust leaks and fuel-control faults; the sensor may be reporting a real slow correction.
Useful checks before replacing parts
- Use live data to compare bank 2 upstream sensor response during controlled rich and lean changes.
- Check for exhaust leaks ahead of the sensor, wiring faults, contamination, and mixture-control problems.
- Compare bank 1 and bank 2 fuel trims and sensor activity to separate sensor response from engine-side faults.
