Diagnostic boundary
A diagnostic trouble code reports that a monitored test failed. It does not prove one specific part is bad, and manufacturer logic can add vehicle-specific conditions.
Do not replace the fuel pump before checking the primary circuit; a relay, fuse, wiring, or control fault can prevent pump operation.
Useful checks before replacing parts
- Check fuel pump fuse, relay, control command, power feed, ground, inertia or cutoff switch if equipped, and connector condition.
- Compare commanded pump operation with actual fuel pressure and voltage at the pump under load.
- Inspect wiring near the tank, underbody, relay box, and module for corrosion, heat damage, or poor terminal contact.
