Diagnostic boundary
A diagnostic trouble code reports that a monitored test failed. It does not prove one specific part is bad, and manufacturer logic can add vehicle-specific conditions.
Do not clear intermittent cam signal faults without a heat and vibration check; they can cause stalls or no-starts.
Useful checks before replacing parts
- Monitor cam signal, cam/crank sync, and RPM while moving the harness and repeating freeze-frame conditions.
- Inspect cam sensor connector fit, terminal tension, wiring near heat or oil leaks, and sensor mounting.
- Review recent timing, valve-cover, or cam sensor service that may have disturbed wiring.
