Diagnostic boundary
A diagnostic trouble code reports that a monitored test failed. It does not prove one specific part is bad, and manufacturer logic can add vehicle-specific conditions.
Do not replace the coil without checking the driver circuit and connector; a wiring or control fault can set the same code.
Useful checks before replacing parts
- Check coil A power feed, ground or driver control, connector fit, terminal tension, and harness routing.
- Compare misfire data and coil command with neighboring cylinders before moving or replacing parts.
- Inspect for oil or water intrusion in the plug well and for secondary ignition leakage where applicable.
