Diagnostic boundary
A diagnostic trouble code reports that a monitored test failed. It does not prove one specific part is bad, and manufacturer logic can add vehicle-specific conditions.
Do not replace plugs alone for a primary/secondary circuit code; the circuit and coil driver path must be tested.
Useful checks before replacing parts
- Check coil G power, control, ground, connector terminal fit, and harness continuity under movement.
- Compare coil G operation and misfire counters with other cylinders during idle and load.
- Inspect spark plug condition, boot tracking, moisture, oil intrusion, and coil mounting before replacement.
