Diagnostic boundary
A diagnostic trouble code reports that a monitored test failed. It does not prove one specific part is bad, and manufacturer logic can add vehicle-specific conditions.
Do not replace hard transmission parts because of a temperature range code; prove whether the sensor reading or actual temperature is wrong.
Useful checks before replacing parts
- Watch fluid temperature from cold start through warm-up and compare it with engine coolant and ambient trends.
- Inspect wiring, connector condition, internal harness issues, and sensor response under vibration or heat.
- Review fluid condition, cooling-system performance, and transmission operating conditions when the code set.
