Diagnostic boundary
A diagnostic trouble code reports that a monitored test failed. It does not prove one specific part is bad, and manufacturer logic can add vehicle-specific conditions.
Do not assume actual fluid temperature is low; a low-input circuit fault can be electrical even when the transmission is warm.
Useful checks before replacing parts
- Check the temperature sensor circuit for short-to-ground, connector contamination, damaged pins, and internal harness faults.
- Compare scan-tool fluid temperature with ambient and engine temperature after a cold soak.
- Inspect transmission connector sealing and fluid intrusion because temperature circuits often pass through shared connectors.
