Diagnostic boundary
A diagnostic trouble code reports that a monitored test failed. It does not prove one specific part is bad, and manufacturer logic can add vehicle-specific conditions.
Do not authorize converter replacement before checking solenoid control and hydraulic apply conditions; stuck-off behavior can be electrical or hydraulic.
Useful checks before replacing parts
- Compare commanded TCC state with actual slip RPM during steady cruise and light throttle.
- Check fluid level, fluid condition, TCC solenoid operation, pressure-control data, wiring, and converter clutch apply conditions.
- Review whether the fault is temperature-dependent or appears with other ratio, pressure, or solenoid codes.
