Diagnostic boundary
A diagnostic trouble code reports that a monitored test failed. It does not prove one specific part is bad, and manufacturer logic can add vehicle-specific conditions.
Do not assume high airflow data means the engine is actually moving that much air; circuit bias can create a false high input.
Useful checks before replacing parts
- Check for short-to-voltage, poor ground, connector damage, and a MAF signal that remains high key-on or at idle.
- Compare MAF data with throttle angle, MAP, RPM, fuel trims, and actual engine load.
- Inspect intake modifications, sensor contamination, and wiring routed near ignition or charging components.
