Diagnostic boundary
A diagnostic trouble code reports that a monitored test failed. It does not prove one specific part is bad, and manufacturer logic can add vehicle-specific conditions.
Do not replace the MAP sensor before checking the vacuum source and reference voltage; a blocked port or wiring issue can mimic sensor failure.
Useful checks before replacing parts
- Compare MAP reading with barometric pressure key-on engine-off, then watch MAP response during idle and throttle changes.
- Inspect vacuum hoses, intake leaks, sensor port blockage, wiring, connector pins, and sensor ground integrity.
- Review fuel trims, misfire codes, and throttle data because airflow and pressure faults often influence each other.
