Diagnostic boundary
A diagnostic trouble code reports that a monitored test failed. It does not prove one specific part is bad, and manufacturer logic can add vehicle-specific conditions.
Do not assume high engine vacuum is the cause; low input can be an electrical fault in the signal, reference, or ground path.
Useful checks before replacing parts
- Check MAP sensor reference voltage, ground, signal voltage, connector condition, and harness damage.
- Compare scan-tool MAP data to actual manifold vacuum or barometric pressure where practical.
- Inspect the sensor port and vacuum path for blockage, contamination, or an incorrect hose connection.
